Prerequisites
For the username and email address one needs to use the person’s VT pid and associated VT email address.
Example: stang@vt.edu
VT PID: stang
VT EMAIL: stang@vt.edu
Wordpress Username: stang
Wordpress Email: stang@vt.edu
Steps to Add a User
- Login to the backend of the site
- Select Users link on the left hand side
- Select Add New
- For the Username, use the VT pid, for the person
- For the email, use the VT email address that has the prior listed pid
- Leave the automatically generated Password
- Unselect “send the new user an email”
- Select the Role for the user
- Click Add New User
NOTE: A strong or extremely strong (wordpress only) password needs to be defined for each user for security purposes. The password will NOT be used for authentication, as access to the backend is via CAS. When logging into the backend via CAS, one uses one’s VT PID and VT Password.
