Preferred Options -Using the Comma Delimiter

If you DO NOT want to use Duo, and you have a preferred option that is set up, then you can use the comma delimited option.

  • Push – To use the PUSH option, you would enter your password, followed by a comma and then the word “push”.Example: if your password is Abc123, you would enter “Abc123,push“. This will send a push to your device for approval
  • Phone – To use the PHONE option, you would enter your password, followed by a comma and then the word “phone”.Example: if your password is Abc123, you would enter “Abc123,phone“. This will call your selected device. You will need to answer the call, and push any button for approval.
  • Passcode – To use the PASSCODE option, you would enter your password, followed by a comma and then your given passcode.Example: if your password is Abc123, and your passcode is 654321 you would enter “Abc123,654321“. This will take you directly in.

Check Your 2fa Default Options

In order to check your options you will need to completely log out of all things 2FA. Then, log into HokieSpa at https://banweb.banner.vt.edu/ssomanager_prod/c/SSB .
Put in your userID and password. When the 2FA options come up, select from the left “My Settings & Devices”.
Once you select that, you will still need to 2FA, so select the option that works for you. Once you authenticate, you’ll be able to check your options. You will also see a drop down list for Default Device, and you can select your default option.

So you lost your phone or maybe the phone is broken. How to you get logged in thru 2-Factor without your Duo phone?

You can use Bypass Codes!

To get Bypass codes after the fact, you MUST call (540) 231 – 4357, 4-help cannot issue codes by email or interactive request.

But before you need them you can print them off yourself. They stay good until you use them. Just Login to 4help.vt.edu and simply select the “Print DUO passcodes” link on the main page. Follow the instruction and you are set.
